Hello, my name is Shannon Hébert Way. Welcome to my website The SavvySocialite.

I am a wife, registered nurse, and budding philanthropist. I have been married to my wonderful husband Sean, an IT Executive for 10 years. We currently live in fabulous Las Vegas. However, I was born and raised in New Orleans. No matter where I live NOLA will always be my home…GEAUX Saints!  My husband and I haven’t been blessed with children, but we’ve recently started exploring our options. Maybe you’ll hear more about that soon :-)  We do share our home with a much pampered Shih Tzu named Sassy and a tortoise named Lucky.

I have bachelor’s degrees in both biology and nursing as well as a master’s degree in public health. I make a concerted effort to be active in the community. I am on the board of an organization that provides services to people living with HIV/AIDS. I am also a member of a local women’s volunteer organization committed to improving the health and welfare of youth.

 

I’ve spent my entire professional career working in health care in one capacity or another. Having significant experience managing public health programs, I have a passion for promoting health and wellness. For the last several years I’ve worked in nursing including psychiatric care, infectious diseases and clinical research. I even worked for two years as a contractor on a special assignment at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) during the H1N1 pandemic.

My guilty pleasure has always been fashion.  Creating this blog has been a dream of mine for a long time.  It is my own personal creative outlet.  I hope to also make it purposeful with the goal of eventually raising money for the charities that I love. I truly believe in “paying it forward”.  In fact one of the themes for my blog is small ways that we can all give back every day.
